Production Assistant (part time)

SUMMARY

Are you a detail-oriented, hands-on individual with a passion for jewelry making? We’re looking for a motivated team player to join SKJ 3-4 days a week as a Production Assistant. Under the guidance of the Operations Manager, this role plays a key part in keeping our production running smoothly. You’ll be involved in essential bench work, jewelry district runs, and various production projects, all while staying organized and anticipating the studio’s needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma and 1+ years of production bench experience and/or jewelry-making training or equivalent experience

  • Skilled in all basic aspects of production including:

    • Cleaning castings

    • Polishing

    • Soldering/Assembling

    • Pearl glue

    • Black rhodium application

  • Strong attention to detail, organization, time management, and communication skills

  • Reliable, punctual, and able to meet deadlines with exemplary self-management

  • Good eyesight, memory, and dexterity for hands-on work

  • Professional attitude and demeanor

  • Strong team player and eager to learn

  • Friendly with strong English communication skills

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

  • Interest in and appreciation of SKJ products

  • Interest or experience in mass production

  • GIA certification and/or gemstone knowledge (a plus)

PRIMARY JOB RELATED DUTIES:

  • Jewelry district runs twice a week

  • Basic bench work, including cleaning castings, polishing, and assembly

  • Assist Studio Assistant with inspecting diamonds and gemstones

  • General clerical support

  • Larger production support projects

SECONDARY JOB RELATED DUTIES:

  • Presents a professional and positive image on behalf of the Company.

  • Reports any safety or security concerns immediately to the Operations Manager.

  • Keeps the studio area tidy and clean and ready for customer visitors at any time. 

  • Supports any additional tasks related to primary job responsibilities as requested by Management.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The Staff Member is regularly required to sit, stand, kneel, crouch, grab things with his/her hands, and use tools and machines requiring fine motor skills.

  • This job requires the ability to move around the studio and run errands outside the Company.

  • The Staff Member must be able to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.

  • The noise level in the work environment is moderate.

  • The Staff Member must be able to tolerate airborne dust particles from equipment. 

  • Good vision, with or without aid, is required for this job.
