How did you discover SKJ?
I first saw Satomi’s rings at Bird, a boutique in Park Slope, while helping a friend who was shopping for her wedding. Later, when my husband and I were planning our wedding, we visited Satomi’s studio in Union Square and chose our wedding bands there.
What first drew you to SKJ?
I loved how simple yet artisanal the designs were. They felt artistic and unique, with subtle irregularities that made each piece feel personal and handcrafted.
Have you always been a jewelry lover?
I wouldn’t call myself a big jewelry person, but I’m very loyal to a few designers, including Satomi. Most of my rings are from SKJ—I like the understated, organic style.
What was it like visiting the Union Square studio?
It was such a personal experience. I loved seeing where the jewelry was actually made. Satomi’s studio felt intimate, and I could feel the care that went into each piece. It wasn’t just a retail experience; it was an inside look at her artistry.
What keeps you coming back to SKJ?
The variety in designs and the chance to personalize pieces. I love stacking rings and adding to my collection for special occasions. SKJ’s designs work perfectly for mixing and matching styles, so there’s always something new to explore.
Do you have a favorite piece?
I have 16 rings, each one unique. Two are similar bands but in different finishes—one matte and one shiny—and both feel distinct. I also have some hexagon settings, which are both beautiful and secure.
How would you describe SKJ’s customer experience?
The service is always personal, even as the brand has grown. The team is attentive and follows up with me when I place orders, making the whole process feel special.
What values do you think SKJ represents?
The brand is about artistic expression and individuality. Each piece feels like wearable art, and Satomi’s team shares her ethos, ensuring a personal and genuine experience for every customer.
How would you sum up your relationship with SKJ?
It’s very personal and creative. I see SKJ as more than jewelry; it’s like owning little pieces of art that reflect my personality.
